Can some please tell me whats wrong with my Stilo?
Hi there, im new to this forum and I just bought myself my first ever fiat.
Its a Fiat Stilo Multijet Sporting JTD 06 Plate. I bought it the other day and on the way back the engine light came and the car lost power on the motor way, it wouldn't go above 60mph and to get there it would take a bit of time. when i got home i phoned the dealer and he told me that this was common fault amongst fiats, that i was something to do with the lamber sensors, and that if i took it to a garage they would sort it for me, and he would pay for it. So the next day i went to the garage and once they connected the computer to the car, the codes that were coming up where: 1. P0380 Preheating Unit Control 2. P0601 ECU Defect (EEPROM) 3. 01025 Undocumented Code 4. Boost Pressure Sensor Circuit After they disconnected the computer, the engine was gone from the dashbord, so i made my way home since it was gone. when i was just about to park the car the light came on again, so off i was to the garage again. This time when they connected the computer, the code that was coming back was 1. 01025 Undocumented Code This time the engine light wouldnt go away. The garage guy said that he had no idea what it was, and that he couldnt do anything about within the next couple of days, which wasn't any good for me. So i phoned the dealer, and told me to bring the car back and his mechanic would fix it for me. Now whenever i try to go over 90mph on the motor way, the car loses power and slowly goes back to 60mph or just over. what i need to know is if this could be something serious, or is it something minor? and how much would it cost to fix the thing? and also why did those codes come up and then they were gone just like that? thanks |

RE: Can some please tell me whats wrong with my Stilo?
Hi
I am getting a similar scenario with my motor, it's just the 1.9 jtd 115 version. It sometimes runs at a fast idle speed when started, but at that point, the revs don't go up when the throttle pedal is pressed. if she starts and does take the throttle, she won't go anywhere near 60mph. All the time the engine light is on and the screen displays "Engine Fault". I have a diagnostic program and the ECU recorded; P0190 Diesel Pressure sensor. Which I removed, cleaned and put back in. I used the clear error facility and now the ECU has recorded; P0609 Sensor Power Supply 2 P0190 Diesel Pressure Sensor P0220 Accelerator Pedal sensor 2 P0235 Supercharging Pressure It also mentioned the overboost and the boost pressure circuit, both of which seem to have fixed themslves?? I'm kind of thinking WTF has gone wrong, could all errors be connected to the same initial problem. Besides taking the diesel pressure sensor out, cleaning it and popping it back in, nothing else has changed, so now I have no clue why there are suddenly these other issues or where to start problem solving? Anyone else had similar problems as us and/or know what these errors mean and how to go about fixing them? Ta |

It could be a bad ground. I'd start by taking the battery cables off, cleaning any corrosion from them and replacing. Clear all the codes and drive it for a day or two and see if they come back.

Hi, thanks for the idea, sadly I've tried this to no avail, she had a new battery in a few months ago and everything was polished up then. unless it could be an earth fault iwithin the pressure sensor circuit itself, perhaps around the fuse box? Not sure what to look for though? I got her started again today and this time she was taking the throttle, so I managed to shift her up to the tool shed to work on hopefully before the weekend. But, it might be worth mentioning I thought i'd leave her running for a while and then give her a few good revs to blow the cobwebs out etc and, purely by accident, the seat slid and my foot pushed the throttle right down, but the revs only went up to 3k rpm's, so I trod on it again and the same result, could this all be part of a "Limp" mode the sensor has triggered? **RESPONDER; Any updates from yourself with the probs you had? How are you getting on? |
